ACCIDENTAL MYSTERIES

November 21, 2010

In honor of our current assignment :

Accidental Mysteries is a great site of photographers John and Teenuh Foster, who do work with found and vernacular photography. John and Teenuh “Share a passionate interest in collecting works of art by self-taught artists, as well as anonymous objects that to them, share attributes of great design and mystery. They consider vernacular photography to be a long overlooked genre of folk art, capturing elements of history, sociology, psychology and often ‘accidental’ moments on film.”

Also you should check out their blog here! I found this blog incredibly interesting, and entertaining. They have collected some really cool, and very strange stuff over the years.

“When it comes to looking for photographs, like an archeologist, I search for abandoned images that may inspire me or excite my eye.” -John Foster

There is also an article written in Newsweek about the work they are doing, which includes some more great images.

Enjoy!
